Research shows that providing your children with a positive preschool program has beneficial long-term effects on their long-term education. Experts have found that children who attend high quality preschool programs have better vocabularies and more advanced literacy and maths skills than children who don’t.
In addition, children in preschool programs have advanced social skills and are more adaptable to changes and new situations.
PREPARING OUR CHILDREN
Foundation for education
We promote independence in our children teaching them important self-care skills, as well as useful skills such as recognising their name, and holding scissors and pencils with the correct grip. These skills set the children up well for reception, and provide the foundations needed for reading and writing.
We focus on developing your children’s skills so that they approach school with confidence, excitement and eagerness.
TRANSITION OPPORTUNITIES
We are proud to be linked to Four Oaks Primary School, and our staff work closely with school staff to ensure that the children are ready to begin their school lives.
When children enter their pre-school year, more sessions are available to them, along with an integration process for those children holding places at Four Oaks Primary.
Pre-schoolers have the opportunity to attend school assemblies, partake in p.e. lessons run by the school teachers and enjoy a school lunch once a week in the dining hall. This is a chance for children to build friendships with their new classmates and become familiar with the school building and staff.
